Welcome to the kingdom citizens blog!
Our faithfulness to Christ causes us to flourish, benefiting the relationships we have with mankind as well. Likewise, our unfaithfulness to Christ naturally reaps unfavorable outcomes with God and mankind.
God is the moral Arbiter of creation. He is the ultimate authority on all that is good. It is His
wisdom alone that settles the matter on what is good and what is evil; right and wrong. In our
fallen nature, our proclivity to sin can be warfare or delight. How we govern our lifestyle
contributes to whether we war against our sin nature or feed into it. Knowing the difference
between right and wrong is not the same as exercising what’s right over what’s wrong. God sets
the standard. We must choose whether we’ll accept and submit our obedience to that standard.

God-led or self-led?
Efficacy, our ability to bring forth a desired result, is often mystified in these days of new
age manifestation. A result brought forth by the will of self-sufficiency is a prideful fairytale.
Such a thought is a malfunction for an individual created to benefit from communal values.
When we strive to operate outside of the community of the Lord’s provision, we not only break
fellowship with the Ecclesia, but we reject the very hand of God and His providence.
Outside the protective care of God’s nature and spiritual power, we run the risk of
idolizing independence over His Kingdom mandates. This is a false narrative that only leads to
separation from God and His people. The glory owed to the Lord in all we do is robbed of Him
when we break covenant with His governing authority. Usurping the Lord, as the Master of our
life, is an outright rejection of His Divinity; in the attempt to facilitate our own ascension to
power, prestige, and paradise.
Today we’ll discuss the differences between being God-led and being self-led. In the
Lord's role as Sovereign over all creation, He has established firm boundaries that naturally and
supernaturally protect us from the realms of possibilities that exist outside of His grace and
mercy. For some of us, boundaries feel restrictive. But God’s intent for boundaries is to make us
feel safe and fulfilled. Entertaining influences from beyond God’s realm of protection, runs the
risk of tricking us out of the Garden into the wilderness.
What does life look like when we introduce foreign factors into our lives that try to
wrestle authority away from God? Those compromises we make, hoping to move God’s goal
posts of succession, relief, and reward — seldom lead to the results we’ve intended to conjure up
for our good. The Lord may permit our deviations from His paths concerning us, but in no way
should we believe that we are actually circumventing the Sovereign will of God, Almighty.
Usurping God's Provision
Usurp (Merriam-Webster):
1.
(a): to seize and hold (office, place, functions, powers, etc.) in possession by force or without
right
usurp a throne
(b): to take or make use of without right
usurped the rights to her life story
2.
: to take the place of by or as if by force : supplant
-Supplant: to supersede (another) especially by force or treachery; to uproot
must not let stock responses based on inherited prejudice usurp careful judgment
3.
:intransitive verb: to seize or exercise authority or possession wrongfully
These definitions spell out what it is to resist, rebel, and reject authority. There is a place and
time to overthrow corruption in government. However, we must be careful not to relinquish our
proper authority or treacherously usurp rightful authority. This would be operating after the
pattern of Lucifer and the other fallen angels who lost their rightful place in heaven, then
supplanted humanity as the true reigning co-heirs of God on Earth.
In the Garden of Eden, the serpent that deceived Eve introduced suspicion which led to
rebellion. This rebellion disrupted their relationship with God, leading to separation from their
Lord and expulsion into the wilderness. With Adam and Eve’s confidence in the Word of God
toppled by a single lie, chaos entered into the bloodline of humanity. Thank God that Jesus
Christ showed up to save the day! He took back what was rightfully His, returning to us what is
rightfully ours.
The trick is receiving Jesus Christ as the Word of Truth and the Lord of Life. Redemption
from our fallen state is a beautiful gift from God. But given the opportunity, how many people
actually choose to return back to the Lover of their souls? How many people want to relinquish
control over their lives in order to submit to the righteous authority of a morally-just King? It
really depends on what world they want to live in. What government do they want to rule over
them, their sin-nature or the Spirit of God?

The Ignorance & arrogance of Sin
Ignorance and arrogance have much to do with why people may choose sin over
salvation. It may not even be a conscious decision they are making outright. Their decision may
just be the consequence of how they reacted to their circumstance. Ignorance, or lack of
knowledge, handicaps us when confronted by trials and temptations. Without a plan of attack,
we flounder in between fight or flight, sink or swim, do or die. But when we have the Word of
God, supported by the wisdom of the Holy Spirit, we can be assertive in our decision-making
process.
With someone who has an arrogant approach towards sin and salvation, they may
operate in their strength, believing they’re strong enough to rally or resist. They typically believe
they can have their cake and eat it too, lean on their own understanding, and if a believer — has3
a form of godliness but denies the power that could truly make them godly (2 Timothy 3:5). An
unbeliever in this camp may even reject the existence of a Supreme Intelligence; an intelligent
designer of creation, morality, and divine justice. This hopeless individual may also believe that
humanity has evolved to the point that we no longer need “God”— because He is only a
construct our ancestors created in order to explain and define the unknown.
Author and Minister, Marty Solomon, expounds on an interesting principle that
showcases how ignorance and arrogance can lead to confusion on or rejection of the Gospel.
This principle is called “Empire vs. Kingdom”. The Empire is a shadow of the Kingdom of God.
The Empire focuses on fear tactics like preaching fire and brimstone. The Kingdom sternly
admonishes sin but with love and grace. The Empire demands uniformity; all must fall in line
like robots under the command of singularity to form a strong front. The Kingdom upholds
unity, garnering strength in Christ, while recognizing Ecclesia's diverse ecosystem.
Empire vs. Kingdom
This “Empire vs. Kingdom” model brings to light some of the underlying issues of those
who knowingly or unknowingly attempt to usurp God’s provision. In The Kingdom of Christ,
love covers over our multitude of sins and fosters fervent charity within its community (1 Peter
4:8-9). All of our spiritual, emotional, and natural needs are met within the realm of God’s
Kingdom. Fear of scarcity and torment is cast out in the perfect love of Christ’s abundance (1
John 4:18).
However, the Empire preaches the Gospel with a vendetta. The same scriptures may be
taught but fear governs these lectures with an iron fist. There is no grace or mercy, just the dread
of displeasing an All-Powerful God of wrath and vengeance. The residents of the Empire are not
citizens, but cattle used to prop up the ideology of a tyrant priest. No wonder people exposed to
the Empire typically go one of two directions. Either they hyperfixate on perfection so they
aren’t punished, or they toss out Christianity altogether, taking on lordship of their own destiny.
This is where we see sin becoming the result of rooting our energy in fear, scarcity,
resentment, and fleshly desires. One way sinful behavior develops in a believer is a lack of trust
in God. When we do not learn that we can fully rely on the Lord to meet all our needs, we default
to making our own way. We invite in alternatives. We entertain counterfeits. We transition from
solely trusting in the Word of the Lord to sifting through the many doctrines of demons,
prepared to offer any solution to any desire we have.
This is where polycentric governance takes hold of the wandering eyes of a discontent
believer. Poly means many. Centric focuses on what is at or around the center of a thing. What
many things are concentrated at or closing in on the center of who you are? Instead of remaining
monocentric with Jesus Christ centered in the heart of our faith, trials and temptations can lead
us away into searching for other ways to fulfill our needs and desires.
Governance is the action of managing or overseeing the policies, activities, and
operations of a state, organization, or group of people. Who or what is governing your state of
being? Have you permitted the Lord Sovereignty over your life, or have you seized lordship over
your own state of being? Has an external influence persuaded you to relinquish your power over
to them? Who or what governs your mind, emotions, and body? Be careful not to entrust your
fears, hopes, and circumstances to anyone other than the Lord. He is the only One Who knows
exactly what to do and how to do it. He is intimately aware of your needs and wants. Give Him
sole permission to be your God of provision. He’ll get it right every time!

Scripture of Emphasis:
2 Timothy 3:1-5 (NIV)
“But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. 2 People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3 without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, 4 treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people.”
