Welcome to the kingdom citizens blog!
Our faithfulness to Christ causes us to flourish, benefiting the relationships we have with mankind as well. Likewise, our unfaithfulness to Christ naturally reaps unfavorable outcomes with God and mankind.
Genesis 2:7-9 describes how the LORD God formed man out of the dust of the earth, planted the
Garden of Eden, and placed Adam and right in the center of Heaven on Earth. This Garden that was planted, was designed with man in mind. This oasis was a safe place, the origin of paradise on Earth, full of all kinds of trees that were pleasing to the eye and good for food. It had every mankind needed to prosper.
The goal was to cultivate and expand this Garden. It was our God-given duty to procreate, pass on the Word of God, and spread this oasis throughout the whole world (Genesis 1:28). But what happened? What stunted our expansion of paradise was the lie that turned us away from the good-given and towards the forbidden fruit that caused us to lose our place in paradise.

A Kingdom Forfeit in Folly
The Garden was a boundary that sourced all that humanity needed to thrive. God was
there. His Word was there. His Spirit was there. His provision was there. His protection was
there. His people were there. The issue wasn’t what God put there but what Adam and Eve
permitted to take residence there. Remember, Earth was their kingdom before they forfeit it to
that lying serpent.
Instead of respecting the boundaries the LORD God established for them to maintain,
they crossed the line, and lost it all. Instead of expanding paradise, they burrowed towards the
center of the Garden where the tree of the knowledge of good and evil was (Genesis 2:9). The
covenantal boundaries within the realm of God's protection were disregarded by the keepers of
Eden when they ate the forbidden fruit.
Where was God? Why didn’t He stop them? Why did He permit the lying serpent to enter
into Eden? There is no explicit answer for these questions in the Bible. However, it’s my guess
that the Lord allowed free will to reign in humanity. Though He knew they would fail to protect
their covenant with Him, God still let them fall in their folly.
Boundaries Are Beneficial
Adam and Eve could’ve rebuked the lying serpent but they lent their ears to his
falsehoods. Because they chose to obey a foreign voice instead of the Word of their Father, they
were exiled from paradise. Why burrow into the center of the garden when you were called to
expand? With access to the abundance designated for your benefit, why get hung up on the one
thing that’s off limits, and for your own protection? Why be so angry about what is forbidden to
you, but not as adamant about what you’re mandated to do?
These are questions that all of us must answer at some points in our lives. Boundaries
like covenants, laws, grace, self-control, and even zoning ordinances are set in place to protect
peace, prevent hazard, and respect authority. Boundaries are for our benefit. They are not
restrictions, they are realizations. A discerning heart and a wise mind delegates territories that
not only separate what’s “yours” from what’s “mines”, but more importantly to designate holy space from common space.
A holy, royal, or restricted space is always separated from common space by some
symbol or notice of authority. We’ve all seen do not trespass signs or witnessed military escorts surveying private air space. In Yahweh’s tabernacle and temples, the Holies of Holies (the Most Holy Place) was a sacred room where God’s presence dwelt over the Ark of the Covenant. This sacred space was separated from the Holy Place by a thick curtain that was only disturbed once a year by the high priest of Israel, on Yom Kippur (the Day of Atonement).
In the ancient Near East, there is much imagery depicting Cherubim, winged-creatures
with human faces and animal bodies. These powerful guardians were divine sentinels, usually
associated with royalty and deity. Carved into staircases, thresholds, and thrones — Cherubim
were symbols of authority that warned all who passed that they were entering into the sacred
space of a king or god. There would typically be one Cherubim on either side of such an
entrance. It’s noteworthy to mention that two Cherubim facing each other with their wings
touching, were positioned over the Mercy Seat, on top of the Ark of the Covenant.

Boundaries Established Throughout Creation
The LORD God demonstrates His power by forming order out of chaos. Let’s look at
some of the ways the Lord established boundaries throughout creation:
Genesis 1:1-9 (NIV)
“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2 Now the earth was formless and
empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.
3 And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. 4 God saw that the light was good, and
he separated the light from the darkness. 5 God called the light “day,” and the darkness he called
“night.” And there was evening, and there was morning—the first day.
6 And God said,“Let there be a vault between the waters to separate water from water.” 7 So
God made the vault and separated the water under the vault from the water above it. And it was so. 8 God called the vault “sky.” And there was evening, and there was morning—the second day.
9 And God said,“Let the water under the sky be gathered to one place, and let dry ground appear.” And it was so. 10 God called the dry ground “land,” and the gathered waters he called “seas.” And God saw that it was good.”
God establishes boundaries in the spirit realm and natural realm then calls it good. Separation
defines differences in kinds, standards of morality, types of regions, and beneficial borderlines.
Job 38:4-11 (NIV)
“4 Where were you when I laid the earth’s foundation? Tell me, if you understand.
5 Who marked off its dimensions? Surely you know! Who stretched a measuring line across it?
6 On what were its footings set, or who laid its cornerstone—
7 while the morning stars sang together and all the angels shouted for joy?
8 “Who shut up the sea behind doors when it burst forth from the womb,
9 when I made the clouds its garment and wrapped it in thick darkness,6
10 when I fixed limits for it and set its doors and bars in place,
11 when I said, ‘This far you may come and no farther; here is where your proud waves halt’?”
God marked off dimensions, measured out the confines of the universe, and fixed limitations to
maintain order and prevent chaos. Spiritual and natural laws are under God’s strict command
and cannot change or progress without His intervention or permission.
Psalm 104:1-5 (NIV)
1 Praise the Lord, my soul. Lord my God, you are very great; you are clothed with splendor and majesty.
2 The Lord wraps himself in light as with a garment; he stretches out the heavens like a tent
3 and lays the beams of his upper chambers on their waters. He makes the clouds his chariot and rides on the wings of the wind.
4 He makes winds his messengers, flames of fire his servants.
5 He set the earth on its foundations; it can never be moved.
As the Intelligent Designer of the Universe, our King of Glory displays His splendor and majesty
throughout the architecture of His mastery of matter and foundations that “can never be
moved”.
Proverbs 8:22-29 (NIV)
22 “The Lord brought me [Wisdom] forth as the first of his works, before his deeds of old;
23 I was formed long ages ago, at the very beginning, when the world came to be.
24 When there were no watery depths, I was given birth, when there were no springs overflowing with water;
25 before the mountains were settled in place, before the hills, I was given birth,7
26 before he made the world or its fields or any of the dust of the earth.
27 I was there when he set the heavens in place, when he marked out the horizon on the face of the deep,
28 when he established the clouds above and fixed securely the fountains of the deep,
29 when he gave the sea its boundary so the waters would not overstep his command, and when he marked out the foundations of the earth.
The Wisdom of God was created as the first of the Lord’s works. By Wisdom and understanding
God created decrees, commands, laws, principles, power, prosperity, and boundaries — among
many other creations of standard and benefit.
Jeremiah 5:22 (NIV)
“Should you not fear me?” declares the Lord. “Should you not tremble in my presence? I made the sand a boundary for the sea, an everlasting barrier it cannot cross. The waves may roll, but they cannot prevail; they may roar, but they cannot cross it.”
If you’ve ever witnessed the overwhelming power of a Tsunami, you’re aware of the terrifying
destruction one can cause. Though nature is going to nature, our Marvelous King of the Universe
can hold back such terror’s of the sea with a word. God has full command over His creation. The
boundaries He has set are everlasting and without vulnerability. We should trust in God’s
sovereignty and the wisdom of His standards.

Scripture of Emphasis:
Genesis 3:6 (NIV)
“6 When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it.”
