The Relief of A Right Relationship with Jesus Christ.

Welcome to the kingdom citizens blog!

What a relief it is to be able to trust in the Lord for love, security, and support...

Relationship is a beautiful relief, especially within our courtship to Christ. He loves us so deeply and richly that when we speak to Him, He’s more concerned with our well-being than our well-wishing. We can ask for what we need but our heart’s proximity to His is more important than any of our natural needs. For this reason I know that there is nothing to fear because Jesus is here!

We see in Matthew 18:19-20 how critical a harmonious relationship with Jesus is. I’ll read this passage then revisit it with my thoughts.

Matthew 18:19-20

“Again, truly I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything they ask for, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. 20 For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.”

Jesus isn’t just my great Friend and the Lover of my soul but the actual Word of God. He, as the Word of God, breathes life into me each time we speak. Reading the Bible is like reading His heart concerning us and fills me with confidence in seeking HIs face with boldness and affection. It’s no different for Matthew 18:19-20.

I believe that Jesus is giving us a glimpse into heaven with Matthew 18:19-20. This scripture is about harmony, presence, and community. This kingdom key reveals the nature of Trinity’s divine relational demeanor. Jesus is not only teaching us how to establish the kingdom of heaven on earth but how to properly maintain it the way He does with His Father and Holy Spirit.

A like-minded community is not easily shaken...
Touch & Agree...

To Touch & Agree

In verse 19, ‘to agree’ is the greek term sumphóneó (soom-fo-neh'-o) which means to be of sound voice together. Our English word “symphony” is derived from it’s root word, Strong’s 4856 symphōnéō  which is derived from two terms, 4862 /sýn, "together with" and 5456 /phōnḗ, "sound, voice".

To agree (sumphóneó) as it’s written in this scripture has a call and response property. The call is to be called out with and unto a people and purpose. This call is a designation that entices us to draw near in agreement until we are fully synced, harmonized in the mind of Christ.

Our response should be nothing less than voicing the same opinion because we are like-minded in the Spirit of Christ. Our faith becomes linked like chain mesh, armored hand-in-hand, completely fortified in unison against the schemes of the enemy. We connect on a revelatory level that causes us to seek God’s will alone in full reverence of one another and the Lord.

As we touch and agree, we commit a vow before God to stand steadfast in the will of the Lord. Anchored in the power of heaven, we become the conduits by which heavens will transform the earth's landscape. In symphonic waves, we project the voice of God throughout the world. Each like-minded person that embeds themselves into our community will only multiply and amplify our efforts.

When we align our will with the Lord’s, we will bind and loose and God will honor our obedience in heaven. Verse 18 says, “Truly I tell you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven. This leads us into verse 19, with Jesus starting off the next statement with, “Again”. He is reinforcing the authority and power that He is granting us to operate in when we harmoniously commit to His purpose within our gathering together.

Because we are His, we have access to this marvelous promise of ability. But miraculous deeds aren’t even the best part. The most amazing thing is that Jesus remains in the midst of His Ecclesia. Our Lord and Savior dwells with us in these gatherings treating them as intimate encounters.

Like a bride taking the name of her groom, we gather in the Name of our Lord, Jesus Christ. Like the husband and wife who are giddy with expectation and radiant with everlasting love standing at the altar before God ready to commit forever to one another, Jesus is there with us in the midst of our harmonious symphony.

The harmony & security of community

What we ask will be done by His Father Who is in heaven while Jesus remains with us, His Holy Spirit abiding within us. I can’t help but get excited believing that this was Jesus’ way of helping us recognize the perfect harmony, presence, and community that exist between Himself, His Father, and His Holy Spirit in heaven. This is what the kingdom of heaven should look like on earth.

Jesus, Father-God, and the Holy Spirit are always in perfect peace, the purest form of harmony. The same God, serving three distinct functions, all reign in equally divine roles all their own. There is no division, jealousy, pride, or arrogance among the Three Who are One. If only our finite minds could interpret such a concept. Jesus is teaching us to replicate this principle anyway.

With such harmony and security, we can be transparent, sharing in love with compassion. There would be no need that went unmet. There would be no burden others didn’t help one another carry. We have been tasked with sharing the Kingdom of heaven on earth. We have been assigned the privilege of spreading the gospel throughout all creation. We have been chosen to live kingdom-minded, ambassadors of heaven proving to the world how God is with us in the storm.

Jesus is with us, standing in the midst. He communes with us, intimately connected to each individual, the Vine to His branches. He is our power-source, protector, provider, and Principle of perfection! As we stand together, voicing the same sound, like-minded in the will of our Heavenly Father, we are given access to the divine harmony, presence, and community of God. The Father moves on our behalf, with Jesus standing in our midst, as the Holy Spirit indwelling within us threads us all together. By this knowledge, I have nothing to fear.

The rainbow is God's promise to never destroy us with a flood again so when our lives are flooded with trouble, let us look to God for His other promises of peace.
May the peace of God rest on us...

Scripture Reference:

Hebrews 10:20-25 (NASB)

"23 Let’s hold firmly to the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful; 24 and let’s consider how to encourage one another in love and good deeds, 25 not abandoning our own meeting together, as is the habit of some people, but encouraging one another; and all the more as you see the day drawing near."
